now, about last night …
3 things to chew on, take with you, & activate your creative energy
On Loving Yourself
Questions: What practices do you use to give your self ~ mind & body ~ love? How can you fuel love into your body?
Reflection: Personally, I did not grow up throughout childhood or adulthood with actual *ways* to give myself real love, affection, appreciation, compliments, and LOVE. Lots of negative self talk spilled in and it became a regular habit to not like what I saw in the mirror. This has an effect on my creativity, confidence, career, relationships, ect. The power lies within me to change.
Action: Lotion Yoga. (S/O Katheryn for this tip) Yes, lotion yoga. As you moisturize your body … move slowly and pay close attention to your skin … how your own loving, physical touch feels … your uncomfy-ness may show up, but try to see this action as one of love and care.
On Facing Fears
Question: What are you afraid of doing alone?
Reflection: There is power is doing things alone. Whether it’s going on a walk, to a museum, on an artist date, eating, or even going dancing … alone … yes, alone! I have found that doing things alone has built my confidence, appreciation, and love for my own self.
Action: Choose one thing to do alone this week/weekend. Go do it. Journal about it, make art about it, reflect on it, sit with it, but just go do the thing.
On Activating Senses
Questions: How often do you *tap into* your senses?
Reflection: Paying close attention to my senses has truly revolutionized my daily routine and has allowed me to practice slowing down more.
Action: Go on a walk and pay attention to what you hear, see, feel, smell, ect.
QUOTES HEARD:
during slow making session + Artist Way support group
I really feel like writing every single morning has made a difference in my week.
Don’t force the process.
I am focused on sensing my goals, rather than setting them.
I am dropping into the unknown.
I don’t think of myself as an artist, but an idea factory.
I feel safe in this online space - thank you for allowing this space to be comfortable in sharing and being vulnerable.
Loving yourself and where your body is at is hard work, but focus on what your body can physically do rather than how it looks.
I am LOVING The Artists Way!
I have told so so so many people about The Artist’s Way!
